There are a number of great golf courses in the Portland area. Eastmoreland is Oregon’s second oldest golf course. It was actually originally a golf course that was only used for members of the Multnomah Athletic Club. One of those members decided to organize a committee so that they could have a public golf course in Portland. The mayor of Portland, Mayor Albee, approved of the purchase of a 150-acre plot of pasture land. They then hired Chandler Egan, a leading golf course architect and amateur golf champion, to design the course. Finally, in 1917, the first public golf course, Eastmoreland, opened.
The course offers private and group lessons and is a great place for people to come and enjoy an afternoon of great golf, exercise and companionship.
