Portland’s Grotto

Looking for some relaxation?  You might want to take a visit to Portland’s Grotto.  This is a stunning area, set in over 60 acres of botanical gardens.  It is totally peaceful and provides a space for meditation, relaxation and tranquility.  While it is an “internationally renowned Catholic sanctuary,” people of all religions and faiths are welcome to enjoy it.  For the aesthetically minded there are many stunning sculpted statutes and shrines which sit comfortably in the gardens amidst the pathways that are rich with a whole array of different flowers.  And if it’s peace and tranquility you’ve come looking for, no one can remain disturbed when watching the water move comfortably round a gentle pond. It is simply impossible to leave this Grotto in a few minutes, or uninspired or stressed.  Peace and quiet are its middle names.
