Portland Rose Festival
If you happen to find yourself in Portland in June, then make sure you get to go to the Portland Rose Festival. This is an event which has a wonderful carnival atmosphere that all the family can enjoy. The main event is the Grand Floral Parade which is North America’s largest all-floral parade. As well, you will find fireworks, music, fleet work and more. This event has been going for a millennium now and has always been popular with families and those interested in different global cultures. Over two million people come to the festival and is thus said to be “one of the top three most highly decorated events” and three years ago was named Best Festival in the World. Way back when it was Mayor Harry Lane who instigated this event, feeling it was important for the city to have a “festival of roses.”
