Multnomah Falls

For those who love the great outdoors, Multnomah Falls is a must see.  It sits between Dodson and Corbett, east of Troutdale along the Historic Columbia River Highway.  The Falls are Oregon’s tallest  waterfall and thus really are quite spectacular.  There is a 14 m long footbridge for visitors to cross 32 m above the lower cascade.  The water drops 620 feet from Larch Mountain (where it starts from).  The bridge was named after Simon Benson who oversaw its construction in 1914.  Benson has another connection with Portland as it was he who gave the city land (including most of the falls) and the falls nearby (Wahkeena Falls).  At the Multnomah Falls, visitors can see some of the most beautiful vistas in the entire region and leads to recreations destinations like Cascade Locks and Bonneville Dam.  There are many rest points and view points on the way including the Vista House at Crown Point, which is definitely worth a stop.
