Jimmy Mak’s

If you are looking for some of the best jazz the West has to offer, then you will find it right here at Jimmy Mak’s.  Hailed as “one of the world’s top 100 places to hear jazz” (by Down Beat Magazine) any critic who goes to Jimmy Mak’s only comes out with top reviews.  Basically the feeling behind the place is that if you are in town, and you like jazz, you have to go to Jimmy Mak’s.  And if you’re not in town but you like jazz, you still have to make the effort to go to Jimmy Mak’s.  Bands that have played in the past (or are playing sometime in the near future) include: the Devin Phillips Band (with special guest Michaelangela) who was described as having a “shoot-from-the-hip, Sonny Rollins/Joe Henderson-like urgency,” and Linda Hornbuckle, seen as “one of the baddest singers anywhere.” As well, at Jimmy Mak’s you will get the regular shows such as Dan Balmer every Monday night presenting a variety of trios and Partners in Jazz at 6 30 followed by The Mel Brown Septet at 8 00, every Tuesday.  Wednesday  nights has the Mel Brown Quartet and Thursdays you will be privy to the Mel Brown B-3 Organ Group.  So there is always something going on at this jazz club, known as one of the best in the world to all jazz lovers.
