Greg Oden is one of basketball’s most outstanding players. He has been playing seriously since he was a student in seventh grade at Sarah Scott Junior High School in Terre Haute, Indiana. In eighth grade Greg moved to Indianapolis and later became the star player at his high school, Lawrence North, leading his team to an undefeated record, a third straight Indiana State Championship in the 2005-2006 season. Greg Oden was picked to be the High School Player of the Year by Parade Magazine, and he was also named the Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year in both 2005 and 2006.
After high school Greg attended Ohio State University. He was only there for one season, but he made that season count, leading his team to the Big Ten Championship and attaining tournament runner-up status in the Basketball Championship of the NCAA Men’s Division.
In June of 2007 Greg Oden was the overall first pick in the NBA draft, and joined the Portland Trail Blazers.
